My Husband Rocks

Today, Katy Lin, hosts My Husband Rocks! It's a great way to let our hubbies know how much we love them and yes, how much they rock!!

Jason is a hands on Dad! He gives Joshua great big bear hugs. Doesn't matter to him that he is 16 and is beginning to be able to look him eye to eye. This particular picture was taken when they were getting ready to play their first round of district championship games and they were practicing 'game' faces. They were laughing and trying to hold a poker face. I can't tell you how many times I heard Jay say "I'm proud of you, Son". "Go out there and have a good time". "Do your best". He was seriously more nervous than Josh. When Josh left for the game he turned around and looked at me and asked me where our little guy went? Ahh If you did not know this man, he would look awful intimidating, but he is a big goofball and a teddy bear wrapped into one. He rocks at being a hands on Dad.
And this is my beloved out on the boat with his Uncle Tony this past weekend. His Uncle Tony is from New York and wanted to spend some time in the warm weather so Jay, being Jay, said "come". He will be with us until the weather changes or until he decides he wants to go home. Jay is sharing the Lord with him and walks around saying in his best italian accent "forget about it"... all the time. Yes, Uncle Tony may be with us for quite some time. He is loving being here and Jay is loving sharing the Lord and the Florida sunshine with this member of his family. He doesn't get to do that much.

Have I mentioned what a wonderful smile that man of mine has? He has the gift of hospitality. In fact, we are getting ready to have Derek and Kelly come and spend the night with us and we are taking them to the airport in the morning. He loves to love on people!

Katy Lin asked us to name something our husband's did or said this week that reminded us why we loved them. My husband bought me a couple of pair of jeans this week and when my son came in the room he told him to 'check me out' and told our son "that's my girl". Ahhh! My son gave me a big hug and slugged his Dad and went running out of the room! Too funny!

May the Lord bless you today! A great big hug from Florida!!

My Husband Rocks

Today, Katy Lin, our hostess for My Husband Rocks, has asked us if we would like to share a favorite Christmas memory that we have with our husbands.

I believe I have mentioned that my husband, Jason, is a drummer. Our first Christmas together was in California and he had thrown many a hint that he wanted a new drum set.

I found him a white Pearl drum set and bought it. I hid it in the cubby beneath the stairwell. He was absolutely shocked on Christmas morning! He loved that drum set. And he played it constantly.

When we moved to Florida, he packed it ever so carefully. He polished them and took care of them and played them with love. I'll never forget that first drum set that I gave him or the joy it obviously brought him.

We hit a very tough spot financially many years later and my beloved husband felt the Lord laying it upon his heart to sell those drums. He put an ad in the paper and had them sold for 3 times the amount I paid for them and we had provision for at least a month.

I know it must have broke his heart but he never complained. He kept saying the Lord told him to do it and the Lord would provide another set when the timing was right.

It would be a couple of years. The Lord honored that sacrifice and brought forth another set at a very reasonable price, however, Jason bought it for Joshua and thus began the next generation of drummers in our home.

Jason & Joshua both have drum sets now. And guitars. They love music. And I love them.

This is our attempts at getting a picture for a Christmas card. I'm tellin ya, my friends, he is a card!
I'm pretty sure Joshua thought he was never going to get out of the stairwell!

I really do like this picture! I think this was right before he started cracking up laughing again!

Or...he might have been doing this.... one can only speculate! haha

At any rate....my husband definitely rocks! And I thank God for him.

My Husband Rocks

My friend, Katy Lin, hosts 'My husband Rocks' every Friday. This is a wonderful way to pay tribute to our husbands.

This is Jason and one of his best friends, Kenny. I started giggling just posting this picture. These two just crack each other up. Kenny will sometimes call and act like he is leaving an order for chinese food on our answering machine....but I digress.

Today I want to talk about my husband's wonderful sense of humor. He is famous for stealing lines from movies and using them as his own. He loves old westerns so here are a few of his favorites he uses on us ~

"I'm your Huckleberry".

"Why, he ain't no daisy at all".

"Hey, I'll make you famous"!

"Woman, how's this gonna work if you don't do what I say"? Ha! (this one is from Open Range) .. he said this one time when we were leaving church in front of one of the sweetest older women I know...poor thing! I'm laughing so hard right now typing this. I had to explain to her that it was a line from a movie and he was kidding but she looked so flustered.

Jason is always coming out with something funny. He keeps our home with a great balance of discipline and mercy and humor. And we are greatly blessed.

My Husband Rocks

My friend, Katy Lin, celebrates My Husband Rocks on Fridays. It is a great way to pay tribute to our husbands.

This is Jason and baby Jason out on the boat this last Saturday. He is a great uncle. This little guy was obviously named after him but what just cracks us all up is how he just pines around after him. He can do no wrong in this little guys eyes. At one point he was sitting at the front of the boat and Jay was on the wave runner and Jay was trying to spray Brian on the other wave runner. He sprayed the whole front of the boat. The baby got soaked and Candy got somewhat wet! The little guy's response was to tell his Daddy not to do that to Uncle Jay. Ha.
This is Jason skurfing. It was the first time he was able to do that for months. He had torn his calf muscle the last time we had the youth group up at our house and he was playing football with them.

Earlier today I read a very provocative post about a father who realized he did not spend enough time with his family. I can honestly say that Jason showers us with his time and affection. He is generous with both and we are extremely grateful.
