Friday Funnies

Today is Friday Funnies! This is where my sweet friend, Kim, gets us together to spread some fun.

So without further adieu:
A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's artwork. As she came to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing the girl replied,. . . . "They will in a minute."
Blessings to you today! Happy Friday!!

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday and our host is Lori. I love this time of week. I love remembering how God has blessed me and the things I have to be thankful for.

This week I am thankful for my upcoming anniversary. My beloved and I are going on a date! We will be going to dinner together to celebrate. I am thankful for our years together and for where God has us. He has been faithful to walk with us through hard times (yes, there have been very hard times) and shown us paths of forgiveness and mercy and grace. I know I am a better person for holding hands with this husband of mine for all of these years. Thank you, Jesus, for my marriage and my husband. Song of Solomon 2:4 "He brought me to the banqueting house, And his banner over me was love"

I am thankful for the quiet time I have had this past week with the Lord. I am grateful for His Word and the truths found in it. I have struggled with some old hurts and pressed in close to the Lord to hear His small still voice and I have been soothed by Him. He is such a faithful God who always meets us where we are at. 1 Kings 19:11-12 " Then He said, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire and after the fire a still small voice"

I am thankful for my son's time at football practice this week. He has started a new schedule to allow him to go to third block football practices. The time frame means his schooling must be finished before 10:30 AM! He saw it as a challenge and set his alarm for 6:30 am and he has been finished and actually getting ahead in school and off to football where he is sore (ha!) but loving the camaraderie! The coaches and his teammates are glad to see him and visa versa. Proverbs 13:4 "The soul of a lazy man desires and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich"

Today is a great day to be thankful! May the Lord bless you today!

Thankful Thursday

Thank you, Lori, for hosting Thankful Thursday this week. How I look forward to this time when I am reminded of God's goodness...I have so much to be thankful for.

Thank you, Jesus, for your lovingkindness. Thank you, that Your grace is sufficient for me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 "And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I am thankful this week for God providing new renters for our home. These renters are family members and love the Lord. They are in full time ministry so they are excited to be able to use this home to bless others. This is an answer to their prayers and ours!
James 5:16 "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much"

I am thankful for my son who has shown great compassion this week for those he knows are hurting or ill. He has begun to reach out and ask how he can be praying and it really is a great tune to this mother's ears. 1 Peter 3:8 "Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous"

I am thankful for the blogging community who came alongside of me and offered encouragement and prayer support for my daughter. I truly don't have the correct verbage of my heart's cup that is running over with gratitude but I am so thankful.
Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ"

I am continually blessed and thankful for my beloved who greets each day unto the Lord and walks side by side with me. We will be celebrating our anniversary on February 1st. His smile still renders me speechless. Song of Solomon 2:10 "My beloved spoke, and said to me: Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away"

Happy Thursday to you! May the Lord bless you!

Ten Things I love

Karen at Homespun Simplicity was doing a "Ten Things I Love" meme and asked if we would like to participate. There I go throwing caution to the wind again...but really, how hard could this one be? She gave me the letter "L".

Here goes...I love

1. life given to me by my Lord, Jesus
2. lemonade
3. lotion
4. lavendar
5. Luckenbach, Texas
6. lip balm
7. Lolly
8. lime sherbert
9. lilies
10. love letters

So there you go. Ten things I love that begin with the letter "L". If you want to participate, just leave me a message and I will give you a letter to use. Come on...if I can do it..lol

Blessings to you! Debra Kaye

So undeserving....yet so blessed!

My friend, Michele, gave me this beautiful 'Color My Life Beautiful' award. I was so touched by her words of love and encouragement. If you are here today, would you please pick up this beautiful bouquet and a hug from me also. God makes beautiful people like Michele...and makes beautiful roses...I think you are one of them!

Also, my precious friend, Denise, awarded me this 'Helping Hand'. You know, coming from this sweet lady, I don't even feel worthy. She was the first person who showed me how to highlight a name and link up to Mr. Linky! lol She is the epitome of helping out in the blogosphere!

Michele also gave me the 'Blessing' award. I look at this light shining and can only hope that there are days that Christ shines through in me. I do feel undeserving of this award but feel so very blessed receiving it from Michele.

Thank you, my friends, for blessing me with your words of encouragement this week. And for those of you who are here...remember how much Jesus loves you and colors your life beautiful and grab that beautiful award! Blessings to you and a great big ((hug))!

Consider the lilies

Matthew 6:27-30 "Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?"

They certainly are beautiful....

Blessings to you this day that the Lord has made.

Interview by Stacey

My friend, Stacey, recently was interviewed by Alicia. It was a cute interview! The more I get to know both of these girls, the more there is to love. Stacey asked us if we wanted to be interviewed and I threw caution to the wind and went for it. She emailed my questions to me and I tried diligently to grab caution back, but sigh, I'm guessing I'm going for it.

1. What have you gained since starting your blog? (Alicia asked me this one and I thought it was good, so I am passing it on!)

I actually love this question! First, I have gained some wisdom. Second, I have gained a lot of bloggy friendships that have blessed me immeasurably. Third, I have gained some computer skills!

2. How many TVs do you have in your house and what is your favorite TV show?

We have 3 floors (I don't kow why I feel the need to qualify this answer) and two living rooms, therefore, we have 5 tv's. I also feel the need to say I hardly ever watch tv. But, I do love to watch the news (sad, I know). And I love American Idol or Dateline or 20/20.

3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I think I would want to be a missionary and go to Africa but to be honest, I cry at the commercials so I don't know how effective I would be in that realm. I leave the food bank in tears most times.

So...I have always wanted to go to Greece.

4. What's under your bed?

I checked to make sure......there is nothing under my bed.

5. If you had one day to do anything you wanted, with no limits, what would it be and why?

This question hit me hard...like a ton of bricks. No limits means I don't have time or dimensional constraints. I would take my daughter by the hand and take her back to when she loved Jesus. I would sit with her and try to find that moment when I knew I was going to lose her and I would fight harder for her. I would pray harder for her. I would not let go. Part of me wants to delete this answer and put something that is clever or funny but that would be so dishonest. This is my answer. This is what I would want to do on my one day to do anything with no limits. I would sit with my child, hand in hand, whispering to her the Word. Reassuring her of His love. Watching her face without the hardness of the world's sin etched acrossed it, basking in Him.

Thank you, Stacey, for my interview questions. Hugs to everyone today!

My Husband Rocks

Today, Katy Lin, hosts My Husband Rocks! It's a great way to let our hubbies know how much we love them and yes, how much they rock!!

Jason is a hands on Dad! He gives Joshua great big bear hugs. Doesn't matter to him that he is 16 and is beginning to be able to look him eye to eye. This particular picture was taken when they were getting ready to play their first round of district championship games and they were practicing 'game' faces. They were laughing and trying to hold a poker face. I can't tell you how many times I heard Jay say "I'm proud of you, Son". "Go out there and have a good time". "Do your best". He was seriously more nervous than Josh. When Josh left for the game he turned around and looked at me and asked me where our little guy went? Ahh If you did not know this man, he would look awful intimidating, but he is a big goofball and a teddy bear wrapped into one. He rocks at being a hands on Dad.
And this is my beloved out on the boat with his Uncle Tony this past weekend. His Uncle Tony is from New York and wanted to spend some time in the warm weather so Jay, being Jay, said "come". He will be with us until the weather changes or until he decides he wants to go home. Jay is sharing the Lord with him and walks around saying in his best italian accent "forget about it"... all the time. Yes, Uncle Tony may be with us for quite some time. He is loving being here and Jay is loving sharing the Lord and the Florida sunshine with this member of his family. He doesn't get to do that much.

Have I mentioned what a wonderful smile that man of mine has? He has the gift of hospitality. In fact, we are getting ready to have Derek and Kelly come and spend the night with us and we are taking them to the airport in the morning. He loves to love on people!

Katy Lin asked us to name something our husband's did or said this week that reminded us why we loved them. My husband bought me a couple of pair of jeans this week and when my son came in the room he told him to 'check me out' and told our son "that's my girl". Ahhh! My son gave me a big hug and slugged his Dad and went running out of the room! Too funny!

May the Lord bless you today! A great big hug from Florida!!

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thankful Thursday. Thank you, Iris, for hosting. Each week I am blessed to read how the Lord is changing attitudes for those of us who gather together and take a moment to be thankful for the Lord's blessings.

I am thankful for my Jesus. I am thankful that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 I know many people who are hurting right now emotionally and physically. I'm so grateful we can call upon the name of the Lord.

I am thankful for my beloved. He is a character most days but when need be...he is a soothing balm. Song of Solomon 2:10 "My beloved spoke, and said to me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away"

I am thankful for the view out my windows. It is of the water and for some reason, I cannot look at it without thinking of Genesis 2b "And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters". This verse gives me such a comfort. I can't put it into proper verbage and when I look at the water, I can't visibly see why it grabs and tugs so at me...but I can tell you that when I look at it...that verse is there and I am mindful and thankful for the Spirit of my Lord and the water he placed there.

I am thankful to have heard the voice of my daughter this week. I have been praying the verse I wrote for her a long time ago in my Bible for her. It is Ephesians 3:17-19 "that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith: that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" It is my most fervent hope that my child will grasp ahold of this love and come home to the Lord.

Blessings to you today as you take time to be thankful. And a great big hug from me to you!

A Word for Wednesday

Psalm 61:2 "From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I".

Is your heart overwhelmed? Look up..to your Jesus...your Rock.

Blessings to you and a great big hug!!

Blog Love Award

My sweet friend, Darlene, threw me some love via this award. I love it. I think it's a really cute one with the old style typewriter and the hearts and butterfly and...oh wait, I'm all off target! lol (It's not like I designed it...but I truly do think it's cute)

Other than linking it back to her, I'm only required to pass it to blogs I love. Whew! I love that. If you are here today, consider yourself loved. And grab that award.

Thanks, Darlene, for giving me this bloggy love! Hugs right back to you, my friend!!

Colossians 3:23 "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men".

Photo Tag

I've been tagged by Amanda at Just a Small Part of the Bigger Picture for a Photo Tag. How fun!

Here's how it works. Go to your computer where you store your pictures and go to your 4th folder. Select your 4th picture. Post the picture. Post the picture with an explanation and link it back to your tagger. Easy enough, huh? And to finish it off, tag 4 people to do the same. I'm going to tag whomever would like to join. Please leave me a comment because I'd love to come see your pictures.

This was my 4th picture and I had just downloaded it yesterday!! Yay!! Jay is out on the beautiful lake and he is getting ready to go out on the wave runner. Oh my stars!! It should be illegal to be so handsome and be out there driving on the water like that...he could cause a distraction! ha!

This is yours truly out on the wave runners. It was just so beautiful out on the lake yesterday. We have Jay's Uncle Tony staying with us from New York. And Jay's sister, Holly, and her boyfriend were down from Vero.

This is Jason, Uncle Tony & Holly as we are getting ready to go out on the lake.

Jason & Uncle Tony

I hope you have enjoyed these pictures. If you decide you would like to join in the photo tag, please let me know, as I'd love to come and see your pictures!
May the Lord bless you today! Hugs galore to you!
