Jesus on Speed Dial

My son and I were having a discussion about so many people hurting right now. He has a friend who he has been trying to witness to since the beginning of football season.

This friend does not believe in Jesus. He is adamant about there being no God. Recently Josh asked him how he was doing and he said "Great"! And then followed that statement up with information about how he is now living with a friend because his mother had abandoned him and his father had lost their home and couldn't pay the bills.

Josh said he could hear that he wasn't doing "great"! So we are continuing to pray for this young man. He is so closed to the gospel but we are hoping for the opportunity to get him at least into our home for a dinner and love on him and go from there.

While we were talking Josh mentioned to me that he didn't know what he would do without Jesus on 'speed dial' and I thought it was cute but honestly, very provocative! He sent a friend a note this week with this verse in it to give comfort and I hope it comforts you today. It blessed me so!

Jeremiah 33:3 "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know".

Blessings to you today.

It's so hard when our kids have friends who are lost. All you can do is turn it over to God through prayer, encouragement, support, and compassion. I believe that God will work wonders in His own time. I will say a prayer that Josh's friend will find his way to God. Sounds like you have a terrific son, Debra!

Wow, what an incredible son you have with a heart for others. Jesus is certainly shining through Josh. And it sounds like you two are close as well. That says a lot to me.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much to comment or anything...I am so behind on everything, sick kids, construction in my kitchen, etc...can't seem to keep all the balls in the air, you know?

Anyway, great post, warmed my heart.

I agree with Josh! I don't know what I would do either! I love the verse. He seems like such a nice young man, Debra. I pray God continues to move in his life and in his heart.

Take care my friend!

You and your son are planting the seeds. His friend may not come to know Christ for a while longer but you can be sure to know it's your seeds being sewn for Christ. What a beautiful thought and prayer of putting God on speed dial. Thank you dear friend for sharing! I too will keep this young man in my prayers.

I wish I could program him too! If you figure that out let me know. Sweet story. I hope my boys are as Godly and appreciative of his parents as Josh is. Real sweetie!!

You have a very wise son. You have ever reason in the world to be proud of him. What a godly young man. Love that verse and I love that Jesus is the first one on my speed dial too.
Love ya,

What a blessing to have your son share his faith with his friend. I have loved watching my 19 year old do the same as well. He and his friends spent some long hours and days "loving their friend to Jesus" when one particular kid was going thru some rough patches.

I love the new Christmas look!!

We all know that people equate their Heavenly Father with their earthly parents. That young man only sees abandonment. How hard for him to conceive of a loving Heavenly Father.

May your family continue to be used to be a light for Jesus. May he see the love in your family that he hasn't seen in his own.

Hugs!

Oh, I love that! Jesus on speed dial. I'll bet anything that spending time in your home would be so good for that friend of Josh's. It sounds like life has been so hard for him and that he needs some love himself. I'll pray that his heart would be softened over time as he's around people who spread the aroma of Christ. I'm sure you do that! I can tell from what you write.

That is awesome having your son share Jesus, he is planting the seed and the increase will come. I am getting more bold, I have many prayer requests and I know the key to answered prayer is praise--and it is not hard for me to praise God and tell others about Him. I will pray for that young man. Good job raising your son : )
