Sister to sister our questions posed are these:
Do you keep a tidy home?
Yes I do. Personally I don't do well amongst clutter and things out of place. In my young married years I took this to the nth degree and was the clean police so to speak and I'm sure the Lord was not pleased at all with my attitude and how I handled everyone not keeping my standards. As I grew in the Lord and wanting to be pleasing to Him, I realized my standards were not everyone elses and learned to understand the term "happy medium". As I have matured even more, it is now my joy to do things in my home that honor the Lord by doing things that bring joy to others. I truly try to have a candle lit for my husband when he comes home. I want my home to be inviting and want others to feel wrapped in a warm embrace when they are here.
If you have children at home, do they get involved?
I have one child left at home, and yes, he gets involved. He is very busy with a hectic school schedule, work schedule and youth activities, but we are teaching him how to be a good husband one day too! With the exception of Friday nights and weekends, Monday through Thursday he has kitchen clean up detail. My husband told him it will be one of the single greatest things he can do for his wife when he gets married. After dinner, pick up the plates and do the dishes and clean the kitchen for her. He is also responsible for his own bathroom and bedroom, with the exception of his linens, which I clean on Monday as I stand over his bed and pray for him.
If you are lacking in this area, why do you think that is?
I have been lacking lately due to my health. I've had some extreme fatigue going on and I just haven't felt like doing as much as I once did. I never used to sleep during the day. Now I do. 2-3 hours at a time. I'm told that's because of my heart condition. So, whereas once, I would be flitting about my home all day doing things, I'm sleeping a lot. I still try to decorate and keep things homey and stay on top of things but I find my hubby helping me a lot more these days. Praise the Lord for his willingness. I lack mainly in keeping a food menu and planning dinners. I do good for 2-3 days at a time and then I fall back into "I'm not good at this" and we eat out. I'm praying a lot about being a better steward in that regard. I just made homemade chili!
In closing I would like to say that I have a favorite Proverb in regards to being a Keeper at Home...it is Proverbs 24:3-4 "Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled, With all precious and pleasant riches" ... I'm praying for the wisdom, understanding and knowledge until Jesus brings me home.
Blessings to you today sweet sisters. I've enjoyed our time together..At the Well.

I'm right with you sister on being ill. I've been sick for the past four years now, with two surgeries only 7 months apart.
I'm often tired as well and that's why how my house isn't always tidy. But my darling husband and boys are a HUGE help and I'm able to muster up the strength to still cook...but I really, really do have to plan a menu, or it will never happen. I often cook in volumes so I can freeze food for the days I know I just won't be able to do it.
Bless you dear sister!
Sunny
Loved reading your post. Your first paragraph could be the exact words out of my mouth! Thank God for His patient teaching and for putting a love in my heart for my home.
Thanks for sharing today!
I so needed to read this today. You have no idea. Thanks for the awesome post! Hit me right in the heart.
Are you a published author or something? This was written just beautifully! I was intrigued the entire time reading it. I am a new reader of your blog and can already say that I will definitely be checking in often to see what the Lord has laid upon your heart to share.
As I was reading, I could identify alot of me in what you were writing. I am extremely NEAT and very organized. This can cause problems for those (my family in particular) around me. Like you, I don't do well at all when things are out of place. I almost go into a panic mode. In the last few months, I have tried backing down a little. My family likes and lives better in a much organized and controlled environment, but I realized that my definition of a clean/tidy home is somewhat different than most of the world. My husband and my girls play a huge role in helping out around the house. Both daughters (15 and 7) have their chores each week that they are required to do. It works out wonderfully.
Again, what a beautiful post! I throughly enjoyed it! God bless you and keep bringing more!
Neat post, I really enjoyed reading your perspective...I keep a tidy as possible with two young children type of home. Lol.
Thank you so much for your honest heart! None of us is perfect. When you have 4 people home all day things tend to start cluttering up. It's hard just staying on top of that sometimes. We get on each others nerves and they can make me want to pull my hair out! LOL. Can you tell I just had a moment with one of them lol. You keep up the good work. I just started a cooking blog. The link is on my side bar. You might find something there that sounds good. I'm trying to post every other day or so.
Blessings to you my sister.

Thank you for sharing with us AT THE WELL today. And sorry to hear of your illness - I am also a neat freak and battling with sickness for the past year and half. I have had to learn patience ... and that the way my kids and husband clean are not the same as the way I would do it but THANK GOODNESS they are willing to pitch in and help. God has shown me that my standard of clean isn't always THE standard! -Blessings to you.
I can always be tidier...especially drawers and closets! LOL!
Hello my friend. I'm not laughing at you. I was a horrible cook when I first got married but since I like to eat good food I figured I'd better learn to cook lol. You can find ready to go crusts at the grocery store. I would just ask someone to point you in the right direction because at my grocery store it's on an end aisle. There are different kinds but I used to get Mama Mary's and that's really good. Please don't hesitate to ask me anything. I won't laugh. I cook things that are pretty good for you and don't have msg in it.I just made something tonight that I threw together that was super yummy and EASY! If you like mexican keep a look out tomorrow for it. Sorry this was so long lol.
Talk with you soon.
Maybe I should get your email address lol.
If you want to leave it on a comment I won't post it. Then I'll email you so you will have mine as well.
Debi,
Just when I thought your last blog is the best one that I've ever read, you come out with a new one. Thank you for sharing your heart.
I am not good at meal planning either. I cook 3 main meals a week. The rest of the week is leftovers. I do try to add an easy "open the can" side dish when the food goes low.
May the LORD comfort you, when you don't feel well.
In Him,
Jean
God bless parents who teach their sons to be good husbands! That's the best gift you could give the woman he'll one day marry.
I'm not a natural neatnik, but I am working at that. Whenever I need a little 'push', I just fire up the computer and check in on this wonderful circle of sisters and always leave refreshed. 8-]
Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^
Such a great post.
Thank you for visiting today! :)
I used to have that same "perfect" cleaning standard and have learned to tame it down. I also deal with health issues that keep me from doing some of the things I'd love to be doing, like painting my bathroom and things like that. I've had to learn to slow down and take things one day at a time. :)
Oh I LOVE that verse from Proverbs, what a great one to have displayed.
What wisdom there is in this! "Monday through Thursday he has kitchen clean up detail. My husband told him it will be one of the single greatest things he can do for his wife when he gets married." I agree. :)
Oh I so struggle with clutter. I have good intentions, but I just can't ever seem to get it totally tamed. It's the best it's ever been, but I still yearn for that minimalist look.
Thanks for sharing.
Great post Debra. I am not a neat freak but I do love to have the house clean.
I realise I have given the kids too free a hand in helping and doing chores, so that's something I am working on.
Thank you for such a wonderful post.

Good post, Debra...
I like this "At the Well" I will have to check it out.
I hope you get to go to the movie soon. :)
Sweet Blessings,

"As I have matured even more, it is now my joy to do things in my home that honor the Lord by doing things that bring joy to others."
I think that is beautiful and the essence of good housekeeping :)
Awesome post! Illness or our symptoms from illness can definitely hold us back, but it's wonderful when we feel like it to stay on track. I love your husband's comment - about kitchen detail being so important - you future daughter-in-love will love you for that!
Wow! Is all I can say. It is soo true how we have our own standards. I hope that my boys will be great husbands someday and I need them to be more involved right now. Even at 7 and 4.
I appreciate your knowledge and I love your post!
