A godly example remembered
During our morning devotions, Joshua remembered how our friend would always close every prayer. He said he found it last night when he was looking for something in his Bible. He will often find songs in the Psalms from different groups that he likes and he will bounce up the stairs and tell me that he thinks that is soooo cool that they took the words from the Bible.
I asked him to show me the verse he found and when he did, I could hear my friends deep voice closing in prayer. The words are powerful and they come from
the book of Jude beginning in verse 24...please let them wash over you this morning. I wish you knew this man and you could hear his very deep voice and his strong love of the Lord..but you can know this...Jude was written by the half-brother of Jesus Christ. He and James were sons of Mary and Joseph. What we know about Jude is that he and James both served as leaders in the early church, as servants of Jesus Christ.
Jude didn't give instructions on how to contend for the faith. Rather, he encouraged his readers to maintain a solid walk with the Lord, being built up in the faith and keeping themselves in the love of God. He closes like this:
verse 24-25 "Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless, Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen"

Sharing the Love Award

Miracle Monday and a Mission Too
Today's post will be the absolute beauty of how Christ can change the heart! My family went home this past weekend to celebrate my nephew's 3rd birthday. On Sunday morning we went to church.
During the time of "greet one another" we noticed a very familiar face. This young lady was a former 'girlfriend' of my daughters. She did not see me, but I saw her and I sat the entire time trying to hear the message but praying and praising the Lord for her sitting in that chair in that church and there appeared to be a young man sitting next to her.
After service I went up to her (we had a very loving relationship) and she grabbed ahold of me and introduced me to her husband of seven months! Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. They have been coming to church and she was absolutely delighted to see all of us.
She asked about my daughter and I told her she needed her prayers...still. And she nodded in agreement. This young lady is now secure for God's Kingdom. And you can see the joy on her face. She is transformed. And it is nothing short of a miracle.
I could list for you all of the things she used to be steeped in, but they no longer have a chain on her and it's the miracle of God changing her heart that matters, not the past! And it is the changed life that no one can ever dispute...ever. It was hard for me to leave her yesterday.
I had many people come up to me and tell me... "If God can change her heart, He can change your daughters" and I know that to be true. It was hard to leave her because I wanted to sit and watch her joy. I wanted to be witness to the change. I wanted to bask in her new lease on life and life abundantly. It was answered prayer.
When I got home last night, I opened my prayer journal and went to her name....way way back and looked at the entry that she and I made back when she lived with me in the 9th grade ... **prayer entry...Kerrie wants to be married to a man that will come to church with her like Jason does with us. I logged the date the prayer was answered 9/28/08 and thanked the Lord. He is so faithful.

Laura Lee's Song Challenge & Giveaway
The song that deeply changed my life was the hymn Just as I Am by Charlotte Elliott. I was 9 years old and standing in a small Baptist church on 27th Avenue in Vero Beach, Florida. The choir stood at the front of the church up by the baptismal tank in their long flowing robes. The pastor would come down from his standing place and stand at the front aisle and the choir would begin to sing each Sunday morning.
This particular Sunday they began to sing Just as I Am. I had sung it many times with them but this Sunday I heard the Lord speak to my heart. The pastor was standing at the front praying and interceding and the Lord said "Come...Just as you are".
My heart raced and I did not want to step out of my seat and walk forward but the pull was so great. Not knowing how I was at the front of the church in front of everybody and why my face was soaked with tears, I stood there looking at the pastor and he took my hands and began to ask me the questions about Jesus.
Did I want to accept Him? YES, I cried. Did I know and recognize my need as a sinner? OH YES!! I couldn't imagine why He would forgive me but I was assured...Just as I was, He would. The pastor prayed with me and I will never forget and typing this brings back that wonderful feeling of a clean slate...forgiveness. No longer carrying around a burden. Knowing love. And what had I to offer Him? Only me....Just as I was...It's still hard to comprehend!!
There is never a time that I hear this song that I do not recognize the impact it had on my life. The reassurance that Jesus would accept me and forgive me. I am eternally grateful!! I have written the words for you below.
Just as I am
Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, tho tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears, within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve,
Because Thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Thank you Jesus that you accept us Just as we are. Thank you Laura Lee for this opportunity to share this special song.

10 Minute Tuesdays

Today, faithful chick is hosting 10 Minute Tuesdays and she has given us the above scripture reference and posed the following question. What is your take on this scripture? She would like you to meditate on the scripture for ten minutes and then come back and post what God has laid upon your heart. After posting, please go back to her site and link up.
I have to admit that I think reading this scripture gives me hope that it is possible. I know it is, actually. Where I run into trouble is when I am the recipient of bad behavior from brothers and sisters in Christ who I love and trust or whom I think should know better.
Something about being wounded makes you want to retreat so that you are no longer an open target. However, if Jesus is my example in everything, as He should be, He did not shut himself off. And this was His commandment to His disciples. It was a command that was impossible before He came. But He set before us a whole new standard of love and gave this new commandment.
I'm glad He did. I want to love. I need Jesus to be my vision and example so that I can freely love and hold thoughts captive when I don't want to. I'm glad He did not give us an option. I am a richer person for choosing to love.
The wisest counsel I was ever given was by a dear sister in Christ who once told me this "Did this person put you up on a cross? Did they put a crown of thorns on your head? Did they put you to death? Goodness me, looks like you have to love them!" She was very wise, indeed!
I want to choose to love. I don't want to be a clanging cymbal to the Lord. 1st Corinthians 13:1 "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal"
I want to choose to love. I do not want to fail. 1st Corinthians 13:8 "Love never fails"
This was a great meditation upon His Word this morning. Thank You Jesus for this command and Thank You for Your example! Thank You for loving us! Help us to love others and reflect Your love. Amen.

And Joshua played!! And played well!! And didn't break anything!!! I was so scared but I'm so happy for him!
Praising the Lord for my son's accomplishments!
My Husband Rocks, Friday

There was such a dramatic change when Jason began walking with the Lord. He began to play drums for the Lord. His whole focus changed. It wasn't about the music .. it was about the worship. He would often tell me "God gave me a heart transplant". And he was right, He did!
Our son, Joshua, also plays the drums and now the guitar. They both love playing worship songs together. (I will confess, though, that if Van Halen comes on both of their arms are flailing in the air "air drumming").
I am very blessed that Jason has taken his God-given abilities, that were once used for 'attention' and uses them now to lead people into worship. I am the recipient of being lead by a man who wants others to know that worshipping their King will bring them such joy...the lasting kind.
This is a picture of my no longer long haired rock n roller. He is still the most handsome man I know. Many years ago, the hair had to go. He began to notice these stripes on his head. He felt the Lord speaking to him about the vanity of his hair and so he shaved his head. Not many people can see up there because he is so tall but the top of his head has stripes on it....Jay will just laugh and say "yep, its hard to be vain with stripes on your head". I think he has never looked better!
This morning he and the youth pastor had to leave at 5 am to make a trip. So he was up at 3:30 am. He came in to say good-bye to me and said ... "hey peach, when I get back, I've got to tell you the best story about King Agrippa...or do you want me to tell you now"? I love that he gets so excited about his devotional time that he wants to come up right away and share it with me and so I mustered up every ounce of 'morningness cheer' that I could and said "oh, I must hear it now before you go" and we shared morning giggles.
Yes, my husband definitely rocks!....and rolls!.....literally!

Thankful Thursday

**Today I am thankful for those people who have selflessly gone to Texas to help those in need. The pictures that I have seen of the rescues have truly touched my heart. Thank God for people who are trained in these areas and thank God for their families who stand in the wings and pray for them.
**Today I am thankful for the provisions that surround me. A home, a Bible, a full pantry!
**Today I am thankful for the greeting of a precious son who is cheerful. His first question "Ready for our devotions?" Yes!
**Today I am thankful that the lake outside my window looks peaceful and is a reminder that God places beauty all around us to give us comfort and to show us He is ever present.

Our Greatest Resources

One of the greatest Bible studies I have ever been to was a topical study where we studied the women of the Bible. The first woman was Eve. You can imagine some of the women's discussions in lighthearted humor talking about "one day, Eve and I are going to have to have a heart to heart"...etc. And be honest, I don't think there is one of us out there who has not thought that at one point or another. But here is the greatest truth I learned from that Bible study: Eve was in the Garden of Eden - she was walking around with the Lord and her husband, Adam. They were at her disposal. All she had to do was call out to them in her moment of weakness and they would have been there. They were her greatest resources. They are still ours.
When we are wounded, tempted, or just plain ill-equipped - call on your husband or your Jesus. Many times we feel like we can handle things and the truth is, we need them. They are our protective canopy. They guard us. I, for one, welcome it and am so grateful for it.
For those of you who are not married, call out to Jesus. He cares about you. He loves you. He will comfort you. He is your greatest Resource! I hope you will listen to the video below. It is another Nicole C. Mullen video - and she is telling us a vital truth in it. "When I call on Jesus...all things are possible"
(Please turn off my sidebar playlist so you can enjoy the song)
I would like to thank those dear sisters who took the time to comfort me yesterday. You took the time to fulfill the law of Christ as stated in Galatians 6:2 by "bearing my burden" with me. Thank you for your emails and posts.
Also, I notice that Denise over at Shortybears Place has not been blogging, I'm sure she is not feeling well. Let us all lift her up in prayer and pray for a quick return of the Shortybear Dance!

Thankful Thursday

So in this movie, when you see him kissing the woman...his wife, Chelsea, put on a wig and stood in for the actress playing his wife so that he could keep his commitment to her. YES! I am thankful that this movie is being made. I'm thankful that Kirk takes such a stand for marriage and commitment and will not compromise.
As a side note...Kirk Cameron was in my sister Candy's graduating class and she had classes with him. At their graduation, he was very gracious to take a picture with my daughter, Krystle.

Peace, be still

OH MY - I read this part of my Proverb this morning and I was shot through the heart! Oh the conviction! Thank you, Lord! I could also hear my little nephews walking around singing the Bon Jovi song "shot through the heart"...their mother is a huge fan of Bon Jovi and the kids actually walk around "rocking out" to him all the time. But I digress.
There is a note in my Bible that says this "The more you say, the more opportunity you have to say the wrong thing. There are a few times when, after the fact, I regretted not saying something that I wanted to say. But there are so many times when I wished I hadn't said something I said"
Wow! Can anyone else relate to that? I sure can. It also made me think that if I remember this proverb and really take it to heart, I'll have a lot more moments like the one in the sailboat below!
The note in my Bible went on to say that there is a related proverb that is not in the Bible that says "It is better to keep your mouth shut and let men suspect you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt" ... oh no... a trip to Target came to my mind! But I'm going to aim for the sailboat and peace!

Truthful Tuesday

My son and I had the delicate conversation between 'lust' and 'love' in our morning devotions. For a real definition of love one must only go to 1 Corinthians 13. The contrast is striking between love and lust...lust is described in the 7th proverb with a person who uses enticing speeches to cause one to yield or stumble into immoral situations. Lust is not love.
1st Corinthians 13:4-7 speaks of love this way "Love suffers long and is king; love does not envy; love does not parade itself; it is not puffed up; does not behave rudely; does not seek its own, is not provoked; thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things, endures all things"
Yes, love is worth waiting for!

Mom! It's football ... there's no smiling in football!
Oh, is that like baseball...there's no crying in baseball?
Mom, you're so funny!
What? I don't get it?
He goes to shower just shaking his head and laughing at me. I guess that means it's like baseball and no crying in baseball! Anyway, I wish he was smiling but it's football!

Happy Tuesday

I thought it was very appropriate. I loved Denise's post today...we have to focus on the Lord and when we do we will know peace.
Loved the sign above too ... I want to plant them all over the world! Or at least in my yard! I really need some sleep...so until tomorrow
